2012

June- Jefferson County Relay for Life was a sucesss moved due to weather to the Jefferson County fairgrounds from the City Park.
July- Hot dry weather continues.
Fairbury hosts own invitational swim meet.
Many visitors to the annual 4th of July Flea Market in the Fairbury City Park.
Large landowners may face increased property taxes for schools. (2).

2013

The Bonham Theatre Project (BTP) board members announced this week that the project is now entering “Phase II” which will focus on the renovation of the historic Bonham Theatre Building (c. 1926) located in downtown Fairbury.
The BTP has now completed two major objectives since forming a non-profit group in October of 2012 to save the historic theatre, once referred to as “the showplace of southeast Nebraska.”  (2)

Southeast Nebraska Region B has been chosen to receive an additional $22,975 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the area for this fiscal year.(2)

Fairbury Journal-News begins it's own online TV channel.

Fairbury considers costs in repairing old swimming pool or building a new pool.

Lawn mausoleums or lawn crypts in local cemetaries are in disrepair.

C&C Processing in Diller expanding their buisness to add extra square footage for jerky production.

Fairbury City Fire Department and Rural Fire Departments considering merging.

117th Annual Diller Picnic held July 4,5 and 6th.

Theme for Jefferson County Fair, Fairbury, will be Blue Jeans and Summer Dreams.

Doug Bristol has transformed the Laundromat at 6th and C Streets, Fairbury, adding new machines and paint.

Giant windmills are being built south of Diller to produce electricity.


Schroeder's Grocery Store closes after 31 years in business (between 6th & 7th on C. St., Fairbury) purchased by M&D Auto for expansion.

CK's Cuppy Cakes opens and closes, 520 5th St., Fairbury

Green Nickel, thrift store, closes next to Bedlan's Sporting goods, between 13th and 14th Sts. on E. east side, Fairbury.

Rock Creek Fabric closes, between 4th and 5th Sts, E Street, on square east side, Fairbury.

3rd Street Body and Glass opens, 520 3rd St, old Wonder Bread Store, Fairbury.

US Cellular, Dish dealer closes on Hwy 136 next to carwash. Replaced with Botz Chiropratic.

Tier One Bank closed, on E. Street. Fairbury

Main Street Animal Clinic moves from 5th and E St. to near 6th and E. Sts., Fairbury

Theatre group buys Bonham Theatre for future reopening in digital and remodel status.

Prairie Point business plaza sold to church organization. (old Walmart) Fairbury.

Sale Barn Cafe becomes Crystal's Cafe, Fairbury.

Wally's Sports Bar, (part of the old Walmart building) has new ownership.
